A Different perspective of a seemingly booming Indian Economy
Wherever you open papers or talk to people back home every body is bullish about the 8% growth rate, pouring Foreign exchange revenue, the recent Indo-US civil nuclear deal, booming BPO business, performance of the stock market etc, etc. Hence when somebody comes up with a different perspective especially on the political front and how as a country we are losing our traditional values moving more and more towards Western ways especially US then it's worth reading. Kuldip Nayar's article in this context in Gulf News is one to be read.
He laments on the lack of ethical values in the Indian system and how we are slowly but steadily becoming addicted to the US brand of arrogant economy with no tolerance for criticisms while the country's poor continue to remain with only one square meal a day in spite of all the big talk about globalization.
